January CatWalk QP Blog Hop

This CatWalk is soft and elegant and so winter like!  There are tons of new CatWalk products to make into a SUPERB COLLAB. That is what I love the most about CatWalks how you can mix and match from different kits and products and designers and come up with something so UNIQUE and so YOU. I picked 3 CatWalk items: la Belle Époque by mellybird Designs, Retro Winter papers by Fiddlette Designs; Enchanted Winter kit by Fiddlette Designs. I also added one of my favorite alphas from my CatScrap stash: Traces of Print by Catrine.

In real life I love paper and I should say I collected it when I did traditional scrapbooking. Now in digi-land I just love kits with gorgeous papers and textures, This page started with the Enchanted Winter blue paper with the pink flowers.  I immediately saw the text print element that Fiddlette added and I HAD to use it, to add even more interest and texture to this gorgeous paper.  I added the text, changed it’s color to one from the palette and then applied a blending mode to the text. I made sure the text was visible but it will not make my journaling hard to read. I followed the pink flowers flow to add more elements following the same placement as the paper already had introduced.  This is the page that I came up with, our first snow of this year.

I have made both a title and a no-title version in case you would like to use this QP with a different title.

PLEASE download the TOU so you know what is allowed and what is not, I was not able to include it in the ZIP file due to size limits.

Let’s get into the hop!  You should have comed from Kelley’s blog and your next stop is Bethie’s Blog.

3 Kings Day Blog Hop

First I want to say Happy New Year everyone! May this be a very blessed year for everyone!

Now onto the BLOG HOP!  You should have come from Sandra’s BLOG, if you didn’t then go to Gaby’s BLOG to start this super HOP! This is my first blog hop with these ladies and I must say that I kind of “invited” myself to the HOP in November when I saw Gaby talking about the 3 Kings Day Blog hop.  She is so sweet that she actually invited me officially which is awesome because I really wanted to play with them in a BLOG HOP.

I am originally from Puerto Rico and we celebrate BIG the 3 Kings day.  We have tons of parades for it through out the Island, but the one I remember most is the one that is done in Old San Juan.  My parents used to get us there to see it, it was a beautiful mess, when masses of people all walk with the 3 Kings through the route of the parade.  At the end the 3 Kings would give small presents to the kids.  I still have really good memories about it.

We now live in the midwest in USA and we are trying to carry forward the 3 Kings day tradition with our daughter.  Tomorrow unfortunately is also the day she goes back to school from winter-break so she will have to wait to play with toys until she comes back from school.

My cards have a bit of a story behind them, I remember asking my mom when I was little if one of the Kings was a woman.  Which of course my parents told me that there was NO WAY possible for one of them to be a woman, I still have my doubts so that is why one of my camels dressing is ALL PINK… just in case!

supplies:  cardstocks (AC, Bazzill, DCWV); pattern papers (MM, AC, and a few old unknown ones); Bling (Studio G); cricut cartridge (Winter Frolic); Design Studio (to make the shaped camel cards); Sizzix Embossing Plates; Cuttlebug Embossing Folder (Paisleys); Distress Inks (Frayed Burlap; Tea Dye)

Aren’t they gorgeous?!?!!?!?  Even thought they spit, I LOVE CAMELS!  As soon as Gaby gave me the invite I decided that I was going to buy Winter Frolic just because it has the most amazing 3 Kings Day Camels I have ever seen!!!!!  Three camels one for each King!

I created a few other items for my daughter’s teachers, very simple and most of it cut in my cricut using SVG files and Make the Cut.  Instructions on how to make the medallion, supplies and additional close-up pictures can be found in the Hybrid Chick blog.  The tumblers are filled up with chocolate covered cherries of course!

Before you leave my stop in the blog hop I want to give you my secret word “SHOE”.  Also want to let you know that I am giving a bit of Candy too.  In order to win my candy you need to: Guess what is so special about the paper I used to make the camel’s skin…. oh and tell me which of the 3 Camels you like better.  You do not need to be a follower but I would love to get to 100, but only follow if you like my work.  I am going to be doing weekly projects from now on… one last thing leave me an email to contact you in case you win.  (something like this so spammers don’t find them i.e.  myemail AT gmail DOT com)

Remember that Gaby is having a super duper awesome Grand Prize and below I have attached her rules for you to be eligible.  Now let’s get going to the next stop, say hi for me to our sweet Madison.  This chick is so talented and so young… a true chickie-die chick!

Oh before you leave wanna see the candy?  It is a clear stamp set from TPC Studio called “Christmas Glamour”, why I picked this one even though xmas is over for most of us?  Well look at the stamp set again, let me tell you what I see… Some gorgeous snowflakes that can still be used for a couple more months, some gorgeous swirls that can be use for any theme, that argyle trio that SCREAMS manly background, and those two super cool baroque looking things that remind me so much of those Papertrey ink background stamps… and if you go a bit more crazy you could use that bottom left ornament to make a cool snowflake, the middle ornament to make flowers (those being the petals) and the top ornament upside down can be a funky snowman… so there you go this is a set that you will love. (remember to look at the rules for the grand prize at the bottom of this LOOOONG post).

Cooking With Cricut Holiday Blog Hop

NOTE: Sorry this is late ladies… my blog post wouldn’t post, so I had to do it all over again.

Welcome to StamperGirl’s blog (my little blog) and the CookingWithCricut.com Holiday Blog Hop!
If you’ve come from visiting Valine’s blog , you’re in the right place! If you’ve just happened across my blog and would like to play along with our fun hop, you can go to CookingWithCricut.com and start at the beginning. Go HERE

With the holidays fast approaching we are sharing some wonderful ideas and inspiration for your viewing and crafting pleasure!
Each Design Team member will be featuring an original project made especially for this hop. Make sure to check out each DT member’s blog.   There will be prizes along the way at our DT members’ blogs, AND there will be some nice PRIZES with a few different ways to win at CookingWithCricut.com!

I used the wonderful new gingerbread cookies cutting file from Page-kits.com.  Of course I decided to “decorate” them like cookies should be.  I used a sizzix embossing plate, mica flakes, pearlescent medium and stickles… of course some ink to “burn” the edges… if you know me my cookies are either undercooked or burned… LOL!!!

A close up of all that mica powder, glitter and pearlescent medium.

Lastly I wanted to show you this is not a regular card, I decided that instead of opening like a regular card, the opening part is only the cookie.  I will write a little xmas saying in there.

Julie, just left a comment wondering how I did the flap that opens.  Here are some simple instructions.

  1. Decide the size of your flap and create a rectangle (or any shape) of that size.  Duplicate that rectangle.
  2. Then adjust your cutting file the size you wanted I chose the background of the tree cookie. Make a duplicate.  Remember than when you are adjusting the cutting files for the cookies you want to have all the items selected so they will all fit in place at the end.
  3. Weld the rectangle and the cookie shape.
  4. Weld the previous shape to the duplicate rectangle.  This way I know they will match perfectly.
  5. Create a Shadow for that shape (that is the black piece you see in the photo below).  This step could be optional, but I like how the shape pops with that black around it.
  6. Cut all the pieces.
  7. Mount the cookie onto the flap.  Fold Flap.  Line up shadow, you will have to trim a tad from the top of the shadow so your flap closes flush.  Glue the shadow on the back of the front of the flap (try saying that 3 times fast… LOL!!!)
  8. Glue your flap to the front of the cardstock.

For a prize, I will be giving away a wonderful card set for you to put together.  But you need to do two things 1- leave me a comment and  2- post in your blog about our blog hop!  we would love to meet your friends.  Of course if you want to follow me because you love what you see then that is awesome, but it doesn’t give you any extra chances.

I will also be giving away thanks to Page-kits.com a digi stamp or cutting file (you choose) of the pies file.  Here is my sample using it in case you missed it.

Now it’s your turn! Let’s see your wonderful holiday projects. Be sure to try and include a Cricut or other die cut machine on your project and link it up at CookingWithCricut.com.
