CWC Wednesday!

Our little one is learning about the different seasons in pre-school.  She keeps asking about when does Fall/Autumn ends and when does Winter starts and stuff like that.  When I saw this week’s challenge at CWC (cookies, cookie monster, or clocks) I thought it was the perfect opportunity to address the seasons in a fun way for her.  I have this Sesame Street cartridge called “Seasons” that have the cutest banners ever!  I started w/ Autumn because that is our current one.  I hope she likes them as much as I do!

credits: Sesame Street Seasons cartridge from Cropstop.com, Cardstock from my stash. NOTE: he is cut at height of 14 inches which gives me a cookie monster of about 8 inches wide. I will never understand these measurements on the cricut.

FOR THE WINNER OF THE HOP!

Congratulation Patti!!!!

Adopt a Shelter Pet Blog Hop!

Welcome to my blog {Stampergirl}  and the CookingWithCricut.com “Adopt A Shelter Pet” Hop! October is National Adopt a Shelter Dog Month, but we wanted to honor and celebrate all of our furry friends! If you’ve come from visiting Debbie at Workin’ Scrapppin’ Mom of 4 (which by the way I have no clue how she does it… seriously 4 kids and scrappin’ time?), you’re in the right place! If you’ve just happened across my blog and would like to hop along with us, you can go to CookingWithCricut.com and start at the beginning.

Let me start by presenting to you our adorable puppies, they have all been rescued.  Let me start by presenting you our first rescue:  Kramer (Doesn’t he reminds you of Seinfield’s Kramer?)  We rescue him almost 10 years ago from a local shelter, he is a fox terrier wired hair. We were his 3rd home, people just kept getting him and returning him because let’s face it he is a FOX TERRIER wired haired.  LOL!!!  If you have never have one in your family, you have misses an amazing opportunity to test your patience and street smart wits!  He is so smart, it is scary.  We love our boy!  He is a senior now and finally has slowed down at the age of 13!

Next came Buffy our sweet and adorable Cockapoo. And yes, she was as soft as you can imagine by seeing those pictures! When we rescued her they told us she was a puppy because of her size.  We knew better and took her anyways because it was love at first sight and second we were afraid of what might happen to her if we didn’t take her to OUR home. After some tests we learn that she was actually an adult (border-line to senior) dog, that she was deaf and partially blind.  She had an enlarged liver and heart… and let’s say that I DID believed them immediately about the enlarged heart… because I never knew a more lovable dog than her.  She unfortunately lost her battle (well fought) to cancer, and we miss her TERRIBLY.

Since I was missing a few brain cells after giving birth I convinced my husband to get another Fox Terrier… and that is how Lulu came to us.  She was a puppy-mill bitch that had been rescued and was living with foster parents.  She had a very tough life before coming to us, but a very sweet girl.  She is now around 9 years old.

Next time you decide you WANT a dog…. think of a Shelter or a dog rescue center… think of the LIFE YOU CAN SAVE!  Think of the hours you and headaches you will save yourself because you DO NOT have to potty train a puppy… LOL!!!  Seriously… that was my only requirement… I wanted potty trained doggies… LOL!!!  Of course you might be one of those people that love puppies and their cute eyes and chewing needs… if you are one of them… HAVE FUN and ENJOY the puppy JOURNEY!

If you are not planning on a furry friend right now, please KNOW that you can HELP in other ways.  Before we rescue Kramer, we stopped by at least once a month on our local shelter with food, toys and treats for the animals.  Call the shelter and ask them what their needs are… sometimes is something as common as CLOROX or PAPER TOWELS… so please try to give them a hand.

Now, that you have read my HUGE post… let’s talk about this project and some CANDY!  You might be asking why a kitty since we only have puppies… well, we have a daughter that goes against all our family beliefs… yep, she is a kitty lover!  LOL!!!!  I am allergic (EPI-pen needed if I touch a kitty) to cats, so I don’t know where she gets this un-conditional love for cats… LOL!!!

Let me talk about that blog candy before I forget… I have some doggy paper (I might even have some kitty paper too) that I am willing to share with you.  They are small in size (6×6) but I will send you enough for you to have some fun!  Of course I will add other goodies… some coordinating ribbons… and twill… Just let me know the name of your first pet in the comment section.  If you would like to follow me I would be honored and will go and follow you myself.  I will pick my winner at the same time that CWC will pick their winner.

Cooking with Cricut WEDNEDAY!

I haven’t played with the rest of my team in some time, seems like I am playing catch up.  This week I got some time (actually last night) so that is why the picture of the card seems a bit noisy.

This week you have to share an apple or honey project.  Here is my card of course I chose the apple.

cartridges used: Doodlecharms and George & Basic Shapes. Pattern papers are from the Fall DCWV stack from last year @ JoAnns (this is the paper version and not the cardstock version).

I used my Gypsy to hide the apple that was in the card cut, then duplicate that and made it small to use as my mat in the center.  All other are basic shapes from George’s cartridge and the apple from the doodlecharms one.

challenges this card will be submitted to are:

It’s WED which means…. Cutting with cricut

This week’s challenge at CWC is so peachy!  We are to use a peach in our project.  I have to admit that I didn’t make the card below.  My sweet girl (of almost 5 years) made it.  She picked the colors, the papers and glued everything in place.  The only thing I did was help her punch out the border and thread the ribbon.  I think it looks freaking AWESOME for a 4.5 yr old or for anyone!

credits: Preserves Cricut Cartridge, AC peach and green cardstock, BG background paper, Bazzill purple cardstock, Doodlebug Candy coated lavender glitter paper, Bazzill Polka dotted ribbon, MS punch around Gate.  (Most of the items from CropStop)

CWC Cele”bear”ation Blog Hop!

Welcome to Stampergirl and Cooking With Cricut’s Cele”bear”ation Blog Hop! We’ve been partying all month long in honor of CWC’s first blog-aversary. If you arrived here from Roberta’s blog, (TX Scrapper Mom) you’re in the right place! If you’re crashing the party in mid-hop, head on over to Cooking With Cricut — grab some punch and cake and start at the beginning.

Our theme for today’s party is bears and/or celebrations. I decided to mix both the bear and the celebration making a “bear”day card.

Cartridges used: Jolly Holidays for the present, Christmas for the bear, George for the rounded corner square and I used my gypsy to make the card.  The bear opens like a flap only.

Bears are a touchy subject in our house right now, my 4yr old daughter loss her best friend teddy and we can’t find him anywhere.  So if by any chance you have an extra one of the bear below please contact me.  He was sold at Targets about 4 yrs ago they are made by Carters for a Target brand Just One you (or just one year).

I am giving away 10yds of some cool red and white twine, just leave me a comment.  I would love if you follow me, but only if you love my projects.

Now it’s your turn! Link up your cele”bear”ation-related project at CookingWithCricut.com.

Here are the guidelines for the challenge:

- Project must include a Cricut cut.
- Project must include a Bear.
- Project must be new for this blog hop challenge.
